For years

I slept in fear

And woke in low

My world a dull broad grey

Till young and handsome, you became mine

Till cool and patient, you took me as thine

Sweet, the days

Refreshing your ways

Your eyes that longed to reach the depths

Take me to places I waited in length

The one place I felt safe

High in your thoughts, somewhere between rife and life

I found my place, between land and sea

Now happy, now sober

The same care occurs but once too never

I love being yours, I love this freedom in your love so you

Somewhere I belong, someone who knows
