Nakshathram in Akasham, My Twinkleless Star and PurpleBlack Sky

I was a sad little star. A twinkle less one. Never able to shine at all. My duty, in the vast inexplicability of aqua black skies. Here stars had identity only if they could be scintillating and radiating with luminous light.

My name is Nakshathram and ever since I was born a red small star, I was relegated into the void as an inconspicuous baby star. Every star born with me had found their destiny in making and radiated and glowed brightly, that, the very act of energy emission made them grow bigger, brighter and better. Except for me.

I never made it to the bandwagon of lucky league of big stars.

And this made the sad little star end up miserable, desperate and wanting to weep wild.

Unluckily for the sad star, the universe had its own cruel rules, rules never meant to be broken. Here the Great and Small stars, twinkling or twinkle less were not permitted to cry.

Stars were destined to shine

Skies were destined to display shades of rainbow grace

Winds were destined to supple life and mirth

Earths were destined to bear in sweet burden

Oceans were destined to lock secrets of eternal life…

So in the long presence of time, and the unbreakable rules of universe, only the skies were allowed to shed tears, when strange wisp of white dreams met each other and cascaded the heaviness within.

So Nakshathram had to confide her own dark heaviness within herself and never ever vent her sorrows and disappointments.

Sad little star sat all by herself, in moments of solitude, wondering and worrying, how she could ever be a real star. How she could ever reach her destiny, of shining bigger and brighter, which all her brothers and sisters had either achieved already, or were on their way to achieving.

Sad little twinkleless star, was so worried one fine day, as she sat in one corner of her universe, her shy reluctant face bent and doubled up against her lap. Like an accident waiting to happen, it disastrously dawned.

Little sad twinkleless star, Nakshathram, just broke down completely and cried inconsolably. It was the most unthinkable and undoable action that any star could have done. And as always with the cruel fate, the very bad happened to Nakshathram.

As stars were not destined to weep, little star had to face the rigors of punishment and repercussion for daring to break the rules. For, in the stringent rules of universe, stars got extinguished, if touched by deep tear waters.

So, as Nakshathram sat doubled up and depressed ,in her own pool of tears, she was actually growing smaller and tinier, so much so, that she was on the verge of extinction.

The vast deep blue black night sky, Akasham was watching all this from the corner of his universe.

Slowly, and surely, the wise old sage drew her attention to himself, by tapping gently on her shoulders, invisible indeed.

Sad star felt a cool breeze brush her beautiful black long tresses. She raised her swollen silk face and the deep black eyes and gazed in amaze, which drove the fear out of her red eyes. Invisible deep night sky kissed her gently on her rosy red cheeks. All sad star could feel was a satin softness on her face, but nevertheless she suddenly felt relieved and lighter.

Sad star slowly arose, from her pool of tears, and limped out lightly without realizing how much tinier she had actually turned out to be. She walked lost and senseless, but the vast blue black sky made sure, that, she was being held by the star studded  aqua infinity.

He roamed with her in the eternal universe, a part of celestial heavens, hand in hand, and of course, unknown and invisible to the little Nakshathram. They traveled the seven seas and the seven skies, the seven heavens and the seven hells, the seven lives and the seven deaths…all worlds beyond and beneath.

All the while, the sad star never knew, that, she was under the fierce protection and selfless love of the vast deep sky. That, he held her closely guarded at his chest.

She believed that it was by her own will and determination, that she was achieving her inner strength.  She strove hard to be a Good Star, though her mind altered between doubts of failure and success. She feared if she could ever shine like her brothers and sisters. Her only desire was to try not to weep and get extinct into nothingness.

Akasham invoked Nakshathram her own self, that she had lost, in her quest for freedom and truth and fulfillment of duty.

Akasham showed Nakshathram the glittering treasures hidden underneath mother earth’s folds, the rose red  rubies , the sparkling iris sapphires, the dazzling glassy diamonds and the sea green emeralds.

Akasham taught Nakshathram, the sweet drift of herbs and spices in the green wood’s heart, the refreshing lavender and the soothing camomile, the soulful jasmine and the passionate rose.

Akasham helped Nakshathram feel the culmination of seven senses in vitality, the secret of survival, hidden in darkest deepest light.

Akasham  awoke her, to realize her original strength and power, hidden in each self, that unleashed their true potential, only when acknowledged and kindled. He taught her to value herself, shine her best.

Sad star was sad no more

Sad star was at peace

Sad star was in the ocean of love and compassion

Sad star valued what she was truly meant for…

That knowledge created an energy and light in her that she had never mustered before, the courage to create by herself. And she started to radiate and emanate her inner strength and power with the truest effort from her core.

Sad star went on to become one of the brightest stars of the universe, lapping in the luxury of love from her dearest deep indigo sky, so beautiful and so glowing, that she became Dhruva, our own North Star.  And since it was her wish to be better that made her what she was, she is still deemed as a ‘Wishing Star’.

And all the while, Akasham stayed invisible and holding Nakshathram close to himself, close in his heart. He was so selfless, that never did Nakshathram, ever realize, his being in her success. He made her truly believe it was all her inner strength. In a way, he was that inner strength in her.

Her unknown, invisible, everholding strength.
